Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Where is My Pet? is a free community app by Pocket Raccoon that helps reunite lost dogs and cats with their owners. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used. For privacy matters, contact privacy@pocketraccoon.com.
2. Data we collect
- Account: your email address and, if you choose to provide them, your name and a profile picture. You can also sign in with Google or with Apple, in which case that provider shares your email and basic profile with us. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address.
- Posts and messages: photos, descriptions, and the location of pet sightings and of pets you mark as lost, plus the private messages you exchange with another user after a "I found this pet!" report.
- Location: captured when you publish a post, to place it on the map. We also store your last approximate location when you open the app, so we can alert you if a pet is reported lost nearby — you can turn these alerts off anytime in your Profile. The app does not track your location in the background.
We do not collect contacts, advertising identifiers, or analytics profiles, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
3. What is visible to others
Sightings (photo, description and map location) are public by nature — that is how the community helps. Pets marked as lost also appear publicly on the map. Contact between finders and owners happens inside the app: your phone number and email are never shown to other users.
4. Reporting, blocking and moderation
Every sighting, pet and chat message has a Report option, and you can block any other user directly from their post or from your conversation with them. Blocking hides that person's content from your map, your list and your messages, and prevents them from contacting you again; you can undo it at any time under Profile → Blocked people. Reports reach us at support@pocketraccoon.com and we review them, removing objectionable content and suspending abusive accounts. Reports are stored with the identifier of the person who reported and the content reported, so we can act on them.
5. Where your data is stored
Data is stored securely with our hosting provider (Supabase) on servers located in Canada. Photos you upload are stored in the same infrastructure. Sightings automatically stop appearing on the map after a few days.
6. Your rights
You can edit your profile data, delete any of your posts, and permanently delete your account (with all associated data) directly in the app, under Profile. You may also email us to exercise access, correction or erasure rights. We honour Quebec's Law 25, PIPEDA (Canada), Brazil's LGPD and equivalent privacy legislation.
7. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
8. Changes
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we will update this page and the date above.
